Do you know when to ask for help?
One of my guilty pleasures is the TV show “Virgin River.”
I’m not a big television watcher, however, there is something about this show that I appreciate. Despite the gorgeous scenery and handsome actors and actresses, they cover a lot of real-life issues…grief and loss, divorce, trauma, family relationships, work stressors…
In Season 4, (Spoiler Alert: Stop reading if you haven’t watched it yet!!) one of the main characters, Jack, is struggling with several overwhelming things in his life. He’s a Marine who is used to being independent and relying on himself to work through challenges.
He finally seeks the help of a counselor. And his girlfriend, Mel, says “I don’t want you to do this for me.” And he says “I’m not. I know you’re right. I need help.”
Part of why Jack finally reaches out for help is because his friend, Preacher, encouraged him to go and assured him that the therapist would understand because he, too, is a Marine.

P.S. In the middle of the insanity of packing, I got the sweetest text from a former client who’s a personal trainer and fitness coach. She wrote,
“I just finished my meditation and you popped into my mind. I love your new little house! I’m so excited for you! Great things are ahead. Just wanted to touch base and tell you what a profound influence you have been in my life and I’m truly grateful for you.”
I love my work and I have no doubt I’ll love working with you. Let’s get started!
P.P.S. Here’s my new house! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! 😊
