Tell your people that you love them!

by Elizabeth

I know a lot of people roll their eyes at Valentine’s Day, thinking it’s a manufactured holiday but it’s a great time for you to express your love!

Thinking this “holiday” is just for lovers or life partners is sooooooo old school!

Tell all of your people that you love them! Even risk making it weird. We all get more pep in our step when we are appreciated and cared for.

Here are five examples of people you may want to shower with a bit of extra love next week! (Or anytime, really!)

  1. An exhausted mama, especially one with babies or toddlers. Offer to babysit, cook a meal for her, or do her laundry. If you treat her to a day at a spa or simply an overnight in a hotel where she can get uninterrupted sleep, she’ll no doubt be most grateful.

If you live far away, send her our Smart Self-Care Ritual Kit or our best-selling rose quartz dragonfly bracelet reminding her she is so very loved (even though she may not feel that way after all the sleepless nights).

  1. Your mom, sister, or daughter. My mom always used to make a big deal of Valentine’s Day and when she lived in Houston during her cancer treatment years, she, Riley and I would go have Valentine’s Day lunch together. Very sweet memories. If you can’t spend time together, maybe schedule a Zoom call and talk about the things you love and appreciate about each other.

Recently a customer bought three of our hematite dragonfly bracelets for herself, her mom and her daughter so the three generations could feel grounded in their love for one another.

  1. Work colleagues and mentors. Business love is a different kind of love, but when expressed appropriately, it can be very meaningful. Take your mentor to lunch as a thank you. Buy a couple of $5 Starbuck’s gift cards and distribute them to your co-workers. Make cupcakes for your office.

If you’ve got a special work friend who you know loves jewelry, you might want to choose one of our sun designs to let her know that she shines brightly in your view!

  1. Your girlfriends! Galentine’s Day (Feb 13) has become a “thing” and it’s all about honoring friendship in all of its different forms. Think about your friends from high school or college, your mom friends, your book club friends or your neighborhood friends. All of these connections matter! Write silly poetry or send along your favorite inspirational quotes. Invite people over for a potluck meal. Post old photo memories on social media and tag your besties publicly declaring your love for them!

My dear friend Denise from Tallahassee just came to see me in Asheville so we could spend time together before she had a girls’ weekend with some of her high school besties. She walked into my jewelry studio and immediately said “I need four of THOSE!” to give her friends as a wonderful talisman of their weekend together.

  1. A high school senior who just got accepted to college! Shower him or her with praise and celebration. Load them up with college T-shirts and sweatshirts. Plan fun activities to enjoy time together over the next few months since graduation is right around the corner!

Buy your daughter one of our Sacred Celebrations bracelets in her school colors or if your son wears jewelry, I can custom made some hematite, tiger’s eye or onyx bracelets for the guys.

Sending YOU love and gratitude that you’re in my community! (And don’t forget to hang out with us here.)

XO
