25 Things to Give Yourself Permission for Today

by Elizabeth

THANK YOU…THANK YOU…THANK YOU! Last week’s book launch was a huge success. I think it’s been well-received for three reasons.

  1. It’s short – who has time to read a lot these days? Not me!
  2. It’s practical – there are straightforward action items to do right away for immediate relief.
  3. It’s relatable – I share several personal stories as well as those of my clients.

Smart Self-Care for Busy Women stayed on Amazon’s best seller list at #1 for Two Hour Self-Help Short Reads for several days and the reviews coming in have been awesome.

A Timely Must Read. I absolutely needed this RIGHT NOW and I am sure I am NOT alone! I felt like reading this book was a gift to myself. It contained so many good ideas – and insights. Some were reminders that I really needed, others were completely new to me ideas and others a gentle nudge to take care of myself. THANK YOU! – Denise Wilson, Tallahassee, FL

This is a treasure! To be an essential front lines woman with kids, family, or career, you need to fully know that self-care is essential to your well-being. Smart Self-Care for Busy Women is a treasure that will empower you to be your best Self-Care Sage. – Colleen O’Grady, Houston, TX

Self-care is essential and can spark excitement!! Self-care is a popular topic but always something I’ve struggled with. Five kids, 2 dogs, a husband and a small business kept me pretty busy. It’s easy to put my needs behind most others. Elizabeth’s thought provoking reflection questions helped me to see some of the places I can implement changes now. With her guidance in the book, I’m working on a self-care vision that will work for me long term. I’m really finding this fun and exciting. Thanks Elizabeth for breaking it down into easy steps. – JoAnn Manzella, Aberdeen Township, NJ

The Virtual Book Party was lots of fun (if you only have a few minutes to watch, you’ll get to see my husband and daughter sing to me at the beginning – ha ha!) and we had some rich discussion about the challenges of taking time for self-care in our busy lives – especially these days. It’s worth it to hop over there and tune in – or at least skim through the comments – lots of gems there!

Probably the biggest topic of conversation was the idea of giving ourselves permission. So often, we wait around for someone else to give us permission, but that day may never come. It’s up to us to give ourselves permission. Especially right now. Permission to do things imperfectly, permission to change emotional states multiples times during the day, permission to have a messy house, permission to take naps. I could go on and on! So from Chapter 7 in Smart Self-Care for Busy Women, here’s a list of 25 things you can give yourself permission to do right now!

Permission to…

  1.  Stop.
  2.  Slow down.
  3.  Say no.
  4.  Rest.
  5.  Play.
  6.  Feel.
  7.  Say yes.
  8.  Live drama free.
  9. Cultivate my tribe.
  10.  Create.
  11.  Love.
  12.  Practice self-care.
  13. Be kind to myself.
  14. Let go.
  15. Be spiritual.
  16. Be authentic.
  17. Take down the walls.
  18. Listen to my inner voice.
  19. Retreat.
  20. Be angry.
  21. Be happy.
  22. Love my body.
  23. Enjoy free time.
  24. Surrender.
  25. Trust.

What else might you add to this list?

I’d love to hear from you what you’re going to give yourself permission to do this week? Leave a comment and let me know!

P.S. I’m giving myself permission to keep asking for your help! If you haven’t had a chance to download the book on your Kindle or write an Amazon review yet, it would be the best gift you could give me this week.
