Embracing Summer A to Z

by Elizabeth

It’s early June which means that here in the U.S., summer has arrived! You may still be working or your kids may have a few more days or weeks of school left, but after the Memorial Day weekend, people tend to shift into summer mode.

The days feel more expansive with more sunshine, more play time, and more time spent outdoors.

To support expansion, sometimes the best change to make is a small one. Change your perspective. Try something new. Reach out for connection…something small but meaningful.

This summer list is filled with simple and sometimes pithy reminders to help you get back to the basics. Just as children have to review their ABCs as they are learning to read, we sometimes need to go back to the basic ideas we learned as kids. Summertime is a great time to do that!

See if one or more of these speaks to you. Then ask yourself why a particular concept or phrase jumped out at you? Maybe it’s time to apply the idea to the challenge you’re facing using the #1 self-care strategy I wrote about last time and see if you can shed some new light on the situation.

Embracing Summer A to Z

Ask for help. Planting a garden? Working on a home improvement project? Reach out for helping hands!

Build community at work, at school, at home, online.

Count your blessings. Write down 5 things you’re grateful for every day!

Do the right thing. Especially when no one is watching.

Expect magic and miracles.

Forgive quickly and forgive often. Life is too short to hold grudges.

Get creative. Make some art, write a story, sing a song.

Help others.

Inspire others by your example. Own your strengths and be loud and proud!

Just do it. What have you been procrastinating about?

Keep it simple, silly! Sometimes we overcomplicate things. Streamlining helps.

Let your light shine.

Move your body. Go for a walk, dance to your favorite Taylor Swift song, or do some yoga stretches.

No is a complete sentence. Please, please remember this one. And practice it from time to time!

Open your mind and your heart.

Please and thank you will get you far. Especially in these times we’re living in. Be kind. Be polite.

Question situations that don’t feel right. Your intuition is wise. Always trust your gut!

Rest often and rest well. Sleep more, nap occasionally, and take time to sit and relax.

Strive for enoughness, not always excellence.

Travel more. Now that things are opening up a bit, hopefully you can see loved ones you’ve been missing!

Understand that what other people think about you is none of your business. Read that again.

Value diversity. It’s the spice of life!

Wonder more. Shift from worry to wonder and watch miracles unfold!

X-Ray your goals. Are they clear and focused? Will they get you where you want to go?

You are enough just as you are.

Zigzag when necessary. The straight path is not always the best one.

I’d love to know which quick tips you resonate with the most! What are you going to do about it? Send me a note and let me know!

Here’s to your summer expansion!

P.S. If you’re ready to expand your business vision and ready to hire a coach, let’s talk! This is the first summer in about five years that I’m not taking an entire month (or two) off which means that I’ve got space to take on 2-3 new clients! Summer’s a great time to shine more brightly and as your coach, I’d love to help you step into the spotlight of your own life.
