7 Subtle Ways to Get Unstuck

by Elizabeth

A lot of my clients lately have been feeling stuck.

Stuck in old patterns.
Stuck in stinkin’ thinkin’.
Stuck in indecision.
Stuck in overwhelm.
Stuck, stuck, stuck.

What are you wrestling with these days? Work dilemma. Family conflicts. Anxiety and overwhelm. Lacking motivation. Parenting challenges. What’s your flavor of stuck-ness?

The best way I know to get unstuck is to stop trying to figure it out with your head and instead do something to shift the energy—the energy around you or the energy within you.

Sometimes it’s one simple thing that can open you up and other times, it’s a series of things over a period that finally sets you free.

Try one, or several, of these and see if it helps you.

7 Subtle Ways to Get Unstuck

  1. Open a Window. Sounds simple. But when you’re in a room that feels stuffy or stagnant, if you open a window, you’ll feel an immediate shift. If it’s raining out, you’ll feel the damp fresh air woosh in! If it’s hot out, you may feel the warm sunshine billow into the room. If it’s cool out, you’ll experience an immediate pick me up as the air rushes in. Open windows in your entire house (or if you’re in your car driving along, do this in your car!) and notice how things change quickly.
  2. Give yourself permission. I was on a coaching call a few weeks ago with a client and she was feeling seriously stuck on an issue because of some OLD programming that came from childhood. I tell ya, those pesky messages we get from mother, father, teacher, preacher can really do some damage when we become adults. We worked to shift the negative associations and then I had her write a big, fat permission slip for herself. She experienced great relief after the session. When I asked my famous question, What’s your gem from our coaching today? she replied with enthusiasm “Oh, that permission slip! Thank you for giving me permission!” and I reminded her that she’s the one who had the power all along.
  3. Talk with an intuitive. I had an incredible session with an intuitive in France last week that affirmed everything I’m feeling and experiencing right now both personally and professionally. She shared some new insights and validated other thoughts I had plus confirmed I’m on the right track. (Yes, I’m an intuitive, but I need my own helpers/healers/teachers too!) My clients tell me that I do this for them as well. The ah-has are deep and profound in some cases and quiet whispers of reassurance in others. Getting unstuck often involves letting go and intuitive work is very instrumental in supporting that. (I’d love to work with you. Book a session today.)
  4. Design a “Zen Den.” Do you have a special space in your home or office just for you? A place where you can feel peaceful, quiet, and reflective? If not, make this happen soon and you’ll reap the rewards quickly. Fluff up a corner with a comfy chair, a lamp, and a pile of books. Or carve a space outside in your garden or on your back deck to take your cup of tea in the morning and meditate. Whatever space you choose, keep it Zen and remember that less is more.
  5. Consciously cultivate your creativity. Take yourself on an artist’s date. Play with feng shui in your home. Take yourself on retreat. Get out your paintbrushes, your camera, your pottery, or your knitting. Immersing yourself in your right brain for a while is often the best way to find your way back to yourself!
  6. Read something inspiring. Pull a random book off your bookshelf (if you still have print books!) or (ahem!) Smart Self-Care for Busy Women on your Kindle and open to a page by chance and start reading. If it’s a non-fiction book, you might find some inspiration or ah-has. If it’s a fiction read, you might get engrossed in the story and remember how much you enjoyed the storyline or getting to know the characters. Allow yourself to be transported for 5 minutes or an hour…and notice how things shift when you “return” to the real world.
  7. Wear a special piece of jewelry or clothing. Perhaps you inherited a beautiful necklace from your grandmother. Or a sassy hat from your grandpa. Maybe your mom carried the most fabulous purse and gave you one so that you could both delight in the fabulousness together! When you need a little pick me up, add a bit of oomph to your wardrobe. Customers who wear our Sacred Celebrations dragonfly bracelets feel like they are energetically supported throughout the day. Who doesn’t need an extra boost of support and confidence throughout the day? Order one today for yourself or for you and a friend!

P.S. I’ll share a bonus tip with you: Have a Party! 😊 As you may know by now, I’ve returned to my beloved mountains in Asheville, North Carolina. I threw my first party just a few weeks after arriving here. Yup, I still have boxes laying around waiting to be unpacked but I didn’t let that deter me from having friends I’ve known for 20+ years come over and celebrate with me! My house is all sparkly and happy now that these wonderful humans graced my home with their love and laughter.
